Added Some Antenna

Laced Antenna

Laced Antenna

Sean suggested that my Ladybug shoes were missing antenna. I thought so too, so I got some twisty shoe laces and laced the backwards to give the effect of antenna. I think it looks pretty good. What do you think?

Update: Buy these on Etsy now!

Cool! They look a lot more bug-like now, plus a bit cuter too.

Custom Ladybug Shoes

Custom Ladybug Shoes

This is my second pair of custom shoes. My first pair were for my NZ Beats website. This time I decided to do a pair of girls shoes. I think they turned out pretty good, but there is something missing. I think there needs to be more detail in the eyes or head but I don’t know what. I’m also not sure if I should leave the tongue (shoe) white or try to put the ladybug wings on there. Don’t really know how to draw ladybug wings anyway. I also need to decide what colour laces would suit it the best. Any ideas?

    Very nice work there!
I wouldn’t worry about wings, as the (black?) laces will probably give that effect when tied up.
The only thing that I can think of that’s missing is some antenna to make them look more buggy, but that might look weird on the shoes!

Yeah I was thinking that maybe I should have made the head a little smaller and had grass infront. Then I could have added antenna.

Ki! I don’t think you should waste your time BUYING custom shoes, I think you should make your own! It’s super easy.

And I know you have drawing talent, all you need is the shoes and the paint (Spotlight!)

I’ve created my own custom chucks from Shen’s bubble bobble painting (which was super easy). You can see ‘em here – http://www.flickr.com/photos/kassh/3442102773/

    I didn’t buy them. I made them.

NZ Beats Custom Kicks

NZ Beats Custom Kicks

NZ Beats Custom Kicks

I have been wanting to try and design my own kicks for some time now and finally found the time to do it. These are my first attempt. Not to shabby, but my next ones will be better, I hope. For these shoes I used Seta Skrib fabric markers. They didn’t work as well as I had hoped, running out of paint and not giving the best coverage. For my next pair I have gotten some awesome Posca Uni paint markers.

How much did these bad boys cost to make you ask? Well the white shoes were $14 on sale at K-Mart and the Seta Skrib markers were $5 each on sale at Gordon Harris. Will probably buy a can of water proof spray to coat them with $6. That will be $40 for a custom pair of kicks, not to bad.
