Little Hudson Turns Two

Birthday Boy

Birthday Boy

Today was little Huddy’s second birthday, so of course we went over to Sam’s and helped celebrate.

For those not in the know, Huddy is Sam and Hudson’s child. Sam is a very good friend on Ivy and mine. We went to high school together, we lived in Taiwan together and we traveled the world together. So of course, Huddy is very important to us also.

The party was a great success. We had wonderful weather and a fantastic barbecue. There were a bunch of kids running around playing games while the adults talked, drank and ate. I ate a little too much and ended up falling asleep in a window box for a couple of hours. But that was all good.

The best part of the day was giving Huddy my present. I made him a pretty kick ass little house out of two old fridge boxes, complete with window, door and welcome mat! I also wrote my card on a big piece of cardboard for him. It read:

Home away from Home

Home away from Home

Well Huddy you’re a big boy now, time to leave the nest! Here’s a nice little one bedroom place where you can stretch your wings. Happy Birthday Love Kivy.

He loved it and so did pretty much everyone else. Was totally worth the extra effort.

Jay’s Halloween Party

Twister!

Twister!

Halloween isn’t very big over here in New Zealand, but it is an excuse for a party. Last night Ivy and I went over to here friends place Jay’s party. Instead of getting all dressed up it was suggested to dress up your head only… hats etc. Ivy and I both got a pair of little horns that clip into your hair. I choose to clip mine into my sideburns.

The night was pretty fun. Good music, good eats, good people. There was a girl their that had an plethora of little party tricks that she was sharing with everyone. It was a good way to break the ice.

Of course there were kiwi guys there, so the rugby was on, NZ vs. Australia. NZ won!

At one point in the night, much to my surprise a twister game came out. The girls all had a go and the boys seemed quite content to watch them. Ivy was the first out in the first game. Later in the night she managed to come second… but to be fair there was only her and another girl playing.

All in all not a bad night. Still a bit sad Ivy and I didn’t get to throw our own Halloween Party this year, but we were just to busy with school, work and the move. Which reminds me I need to tell you guys about our new flat. Will try and get a post up in the next couple of days.

Scavenger Hunt

December 15th, 2008 Filed under: Life, Pre-School, Work | Tags: , ,

We had our Christmas work due this weekend. It started off with a pretty cool scavenger hunt. We got into teams of 4 people (workmates and their partners) and raced around the city trying to collect photographic evidence of us with as many things on the list as we could in 2 hours. My team consisted of Sharon (my co-teacher), N8 (her man), Ivy and me. We were pretty confident that we would kick some serious ass and took off like a bat out of hell.

Here is the scavenger hunt list:

Face Painting

Today we had our annual Christmas Party for the children at the Pre-School where I work. The day didn’t start off to well. We opened the center to start setting up for the festivities, only to find that one of the class guinea pigs had died over night. The poor one that was still alive was head butting the dead one trying to wake it up. So we quickly cleaned that up before the kids started to arrive.
