Sam's Birthday

Sam's Birthday

Sam is a good friend of Ivy’s and mine. We traveled the world together. I was at her child’s birth. So when we couldn’t get over to see her on Sunday for her birthday, we felt pretty shit house. To make up for it we surprised her yesterday at her front door in the middle of the night with gifts and cupcakes.

Turned out to be a good night. Talked for a couple of hours about life; past present and future.

Antonio’s Bar

Drinks at Antonio's

Drinks at Antonio's

Went out with Andre and his crew last night. Andre had a gallery opening, but Ivy and I arrived just as he was closing up. In other words we were just in time for the after drinks.

We all head over to Antonio’s Bar. Antonio’s is a sweet little Japanese bar, Christchurch’s smallest bar. The 12 of us packed the place out. We started with some Asahi, Plum WIne, before moving on to some Saki and Sochu. The barman, Aki, also made us his signature drink named after himself. It’s kind of like a Mojito with lemon cordial.

During our time at the bar I got to talking with Tjalling, who I haven’t seen in quite a while. He is a biker, so our bar chatter headed in that direction after a while. He told me about a site called Teabags on Top Tubes, which is site dedicated to photos of guys taking photos of their balls resting on the top tube of their bike frame. God I love the internet, you’ll find shit that you could never think of in your wildest dreams.

Latin Dance Class

Latin Dance Class

Latin Dance Class

Ivy’s friend and classmate, Maria, runs the Latin Dance Festival here in Christchurch. The festival will be starting on the 28th of February and to drum up some interest she has been running free Latin dance classes at Christchurch Art Museum on Wednesday nights.

Ivy and I went along to this weeks class. I was surprised with the turn out, there was at least 50 plus people there. It started off pretty slow with us all in a line copying some basic steps. Before I knew what was going on we were paired up and learning our first of three dance moves. After an hour of spinning and toe crunching we managed to become quite good at the three moves and were dancing away happily.

It was a pretty fun night and I would recommend it to anyone. Especially you guys out there. The girls out numbered the boys two to one, making dancing classes a great place to pick up chicks. Plus once you learn to dance your chances of pulling while out on the town are bound to increase exponentially.

It was part of the dance, but I like to think I gave it a little something special.

Last Day at ABC

Messed Up

It was my last day at ABC today. I have been working there for the last year and a half and have enjoyed most of it. The staff are great as well as the children, but I have decided to move on to another pre-school. I really want to see what other companies have to offer. See the differences in how they run. I plan on opening my own center at some stage and figure the more centers I work in before that the better.

Anywho, my last day went pretty well. Got lots of cuddles from the kids and even had some kids that were on holiday come back to say goodbye. My co-workers gave me a fantastic send off. First spraying me with silly string and painting purple hand prints al over me. Later they sat me down in front of all the kids and gave me a nice good bye card and a present, which was a cool monkey puppet. They then proceeded to pour water, oats and glitter all over me. If that wasn’t enough just before leaving I was antiqued and had three eggs thrown at me. The eggs all missed. Of course I knew all this was coming as I have been involved in doing the same thing when others had left.

All in all my time with ABC was a good one and I hope I can stay in contact with my ex-workmates.

Simon

Simon left for Wellington today. He got a three month contract working for some software company up there. All this is great news for him, but crappy for me. One less friend in Christchurch. But I’m a big boy I can take it. Good luck Simon, all the best for your new job.

Happy New Year 2009

Happy New Year

Happy New Year

2009 is here! Ivy and I spent our last minutes of 2008 with friends at our flat. It was a bit of a reunion for the boys. Nick, Simon and Dixon were here with their respective dates, Carolyn, Jillian and Tarren.

We drank and told stories of old. When it was getting close to the New Years count down we turned on the tele…. in typical New Zealand style there was only movies on T.V. No countdown!! So in the end we youtubed the New Years song and had our own count down.

We walked into town after and hit a couple of bars in Popular Lane and Sol. Square. Sat down amongst the party goers, talked some more and dealt with asshole bartenders that didn’t like serving us waters. A couple of hours of this and we started to head home. Taxi’s were impossible to get, so we walked home.

To all of you who I didn’t already text before running out of money on my phone Happy New Year! I hope 2009 treats you fairly and happiness finds you.
