Finally got my balloon video together. It’s not really a video more of a really fast slide show. For those not in the know my flatmate found a heap of balloons, so we spent a couple of days blowing up about half of them. We then we threw them all into the bathroom and filled it to the roof. Then my flatmates and I all went in there with a pin each and jut went nuts. Oh the fun of it all.

Damn Printer
Sunday night, I’m sitting down watching Beverly Highs Cop on C4 getting ready for a relaxing night before heading to bed around midnight. Ivy on the other hand, had an assignment due Monday morning which she still had to do quite a bit on. She was settling in for an all nighter.
Midnight rolls around and I’m about to hit the sack, when Ivy calls out for me “Ki where’s the printer ink I ask you to get me? The printer just ran out of ink!”. Shit! I knew I forgot something. My answer of “Umm didn’t get it” doesn’t go down to well.
Ok, it’s midnight, it’s Sunday and we are in New Zealand. Where can I get some ink for Ivy to print the rest of the stuff she needs for her assignment. Mum’s house? I wake up the flatmates to grab their car keys and move their cars to get Ivy’s out. I drive out to mum’s place thinking that I’ll just grab her printer and bring it back to the flat. Too bad, mum’s printer is out of ink too.
Now it’s 1am and still no ink. At this point all I could think about was that scene from Office Space where they take the printer out to the field and kick the shit out of it. But I hold my composure and and think. OK, I can take Ivy out to Uni and use their 24 hour computer labs to print off her stuff. Of course this means I’ll have to go with her so that she can get in. Good news right? Well kind of, she hasn’t finished everything that she needs to print, so I’m stuck watching Seinfeld dvd’s until she’s ready to head off to Uni.
4 am, rolls around and we drive into Uni. Thank goodness we get in after a hairy couple of seconds with an beeping keypad on the door to the lab. We print everything off and are home just after 5 am.
Now it’s really to early in the morning to go to bed only to get up at 7 and go to pre-school. Couple more episodes of Seinfeld an then we head off to school and work. Let me tell you dealing with 20+ 2 to 5 years olds is hard work, even with a solid 7 hours sleep, but it’s just painful with no sleep.
Got home after work and grabbed a quick bite to eat before falling asleep. My bed has never felt so good before.

Balloons up the Wazoo!
Everyone has heard of someone finding something that “fell off the back of a truck”. More often than not this means said thing is stolen, but in this case it’s true. My flat mate really did find a whole bunch of balloons all over the road right outside our house. He got a couple of supermarket bags and collected as much as he could carry.
This put us in the situation were we had literally hundred’s of balloons and nothing to do with them. So the inevitable happened and we just started blowing them up in the lounge while watching T.V. This in itself was no easy task as the balloons were vacuum sealed into bags of five. Once removed from there packaging the balloons were very stiff and needed to be stretched before you were able to blow them up.
So over the last couple of days we managed to blow up half of the balloons we collected. It’s gotten to the point were the balloons are up to our hips and becoming more of a hassle than a novelty. They’re always getting in the way of the T.V. and manage to keep the lounge uncomfortably hot, not to mention omitting a rubbery smell and leaving a rubbery taste in your mouth.
So now we are left with the decision of whether to keep blowing up more balloons, just leave it as is or dispose of the all ready blown up ones some how. Anyone out there got some cool ideas of what we could do with a couple hundred blown up balloons? The funnier the better!

Three Mice in a Bucket
Some of you may remember my previous post about catching a mouse in the flat. Well there were still mouse poos showing up in the cupboards so we put the trap out again. This time we really hit the jackpot, trapping three, that’s right three mice in the one trap!
This was in a non kill mouse trap that closes once a mouse enters it. This means that all three of these mice must have entered the trap at the same time! Which leads me to wonder just how many damn mice do we have in this house that three can wonder into a trap at the same time.

Mouse in a bucket
Ha ha, I told you I would get you! Woke up this morning to see that the mouse trap I purchased had been triggered. The door had snapped shut hopefully locking my mousey friend inside. I took the trap outside and tipped the contents out into a bucket. Sure enough there was the little bastard, scampering around in circles trying to jump up out of the bucket.
My flatmates told me to kill it. When ask how they suggested stomping on it. Not really my style, so I took the mouse across the road to a park and let it out in the bushes. Damn thing better not come back or I might not be so nice next time.

Mouse Being Released
I believe we still have at least one other mouse in the flat though, going by the amount of mouse droppings we have found in the cupboards. So the mouse trap is out again, waiting for it’s next victim.

Mouse Trap
Last night after watching a movie, Ivy spotted a mouse run across the lounge floor. We quickly closed all the doors and got a bucket. We chased that damn mouse around the living room for half an hour moving the sofas, computer desk and TV in to the middle of the room to try and catch it. Alas Mickey was too quick and escaped the clutches of my bucket.
He may have won this match but I will catch him, on yes he will be mine. I have purchased a simple none deadly mouse trap (pictured) from the hardware store and plan to leave it in the lounge over the next couple of days. The trap uses gravity against the mouse. I will baited the raised end of the trap with some peanut butter. When the mouse enters to get his treat he will have to walk up the raised end of the trap. This will cause the raised end to drop and the flat end to raise, like a seesaw. When the other end raises the door snaps shut trapping the mouse inside.
Now I just have to figure out what to do with him once I catch him.

Glass Shelves
Ivy’s work is currently upgrading some of their shelving. Apparently the old glass shelves are too dangerous or they don’t fit with the image the store is trying to portray now. Either way they are being replaced and instead of being sold or recycled they are being broken and throw in the skip.
Ivy managed to save a few from the tip and smuggled them home and I spent the better part of an hour putting them back together.
Now we have a lovely set of glass shelves in our bathroom.
The music goes quite well with the jerkyness of the video.
Is the music by Minuit?
I’d be curious to know who the author is of the music track too…
Aside from that, great stuff. Would have been a blast!
The artist name is Pogo. He’s pretty choice. He makes takes purely from sound bits of different movies. This one is from Alice in Wonderland, some of is other stuff is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Peter Pan and some cool stuff from some Harry Potter movies. You can download heaps of his tracks for free off his Last FM site http://www.last.fm/music/Pogo but be warned once you start listening to Pogo it can start to become an obsession.
