Latin Dance Festival 09
Went along to the Latin Dance Festival this weekend. It was held at the town hall and basically consisted of 2 hours of professional dancers strutting their stuff. The majority of it was very impressive and the crowd really got it to it. During the half time break a Latin band performed and about a quarter of the crowd got up to dance. It was a fun night out.
They also did some dancing work shops during the day in Victoria Square and sold a variety of South American Food. Unfortunately the weather didn’t hold up and rain put a bit of a damper on things.

Latin Dance Class
Ivy’s friend and classmate, Maria, runs the Latin Dance Festival here in Christchurch. The festival will be starting on the 28th of February and to drum up some interest she has been running free Latin dance classes at Christchurch Art Museum on Wednesday nights.
Ivy and I went along to this weeks class. I was surprised with the turn out, there was at least 50 plus people there. It started off pretty slow with us all in a line copying some basic steps. Before I knew what was going on we were paired up and learning our first of three dance moves. After an hour of spinning and toe crunching we managed to become quite good at the three moves and were dancing away happily.
It was a pretty fun night and I would recommend it to anyone. Especially you guys out there. The girls out numbered the boys two to one, making dancing classes a great place to pick up chicks. Plus once you learn to dance your chances of pulling while out on the town are bound to increase exponentially.

Last Train to India
A friend of mine from Teacher’s College, Aman Sidhu, recently opened an India restaurant here in Christchurch. It’s called
Last Train to India. It is located in the heart of the city on Cashel St right next to the Bridge of Remembrance. It’s also one of the best looking restaurants I have ever been in, with huge cushioned seats and marble tables. The food is good, I have been there for lunch and dinner and enjoyed both meals.
One thing I noticed is the uncomfortableness that arises when friends are all of a sudden put into customer/service roles. It’s weird to all of a sudden have a friend treat you like a customer. I’m sure it was the same for her, she might have felt the need to treat me special or chat with me when she was really needed elsewhere. Anyone else have experiences like this?

Heat Wave
There has been a crazy heat wave in Christchurch over the past 3 days. Last night it was so hot I needed to use a wet towel as a blanket in order to fall asleep (nice image for ya).
Today it got up to a whopping 39 degrees Celsius. Luckily, I work at a preschool so I can always just get the hose out and start a water fight. Ivy on the other hand was stuck in a storage room at Spotlight. Poor girl.
Belated Happy Birthday! And congrats on your graduation!
