Zeitgeist The Movie
Ok, my mind just imploded! I just sat down and watched a movie called Zeigeist. You won’t find this in the theaters, on the television or even at your local blockbuster. You can however, find it available for download online at
www.zeitgeistmovie.com.
This movie in a nut shell shows you that religion owns your ass, the government owns the religion’s ass, and the central banks owns the government’s ass. It is scary, scary shit.
You need to go download and watch this movie so that we can talk about it together.
Go do it now!

Slumdog Millionaire
Finally got around to seeing Slumdog Millionaire tonight. I loved it. I am hard to please in movies, well that’s not true. I like a lot movies; Kung Fu Hustle, Terminator 2, Star Wars, Princess Bride all great movies throughout my life. But I don’t often love movies, that honor is saved for a select few; Boondock Saints, Amile, The Shawshank Redemption and now Slumdog Millionaire. These are movies that do more that entertain, they make you think, they make you feel, and most of all they leave an everlasting impression on you. Make you see the world through new eyes. So do yourself a favor and go and see this movie.

Twilight Cinema
Ivy and I had a great night out watching the 1978 classic Grease at the Twilight Cinema. The Twilight Cinema is a portable cinema complete with projector and giant blow up screen. They are screening movies pretty much every night for the next month in Hagley Park at sunset.
The night started off with Ivy and I stuffing our huge two seater beanbag (which Ivy made) into the back of her car along with some nibbles and drink. We arrived at the park about 30 minutes early in the hopes of getting a good spot on the grass, which we did. As soon as it got dark enough they started the film, but unfortunately had forgotten to turn off the subtitles and adjust the projector to match the screen size. After a couple of minutes of re-adjusting they restarted the movie to a round of applause.
I don’t have to tell you that Grease was awesome and everyone was enjoying themselves. People were happily singing along and even breaking out some dance moves during the Grease Lightning scene. It was a great night out and I would highly recommend it to anyone. In fact go and see In Bruges there in a couple of weeks time.

In Bruges
My brother,
Shen, recently went for a weekend in Bruges, a small city in Belgium. After talking to him about his exploits he reminded me of the Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson film titled In Bruges. Colin and Brendan are hitmen in hiding, with Ralph Fiennes as their gangster boss. The film of course takes place within Bruges.
The movie starts off quiet slow without much of anything happening for the first half. The comedic high light of the first half is when Colin tells a bunch of obese American tourists not to climb to the top of a famous tower because they are to fat to fit. (My brother assures me that the tower staircase gets very steep and narrow and doubts anyone of considerable girth would not be able to make it up.)
After a slow start the movie does pick up with a bunch of action scenes sprinkled with humor. The end result being a reasonably good flick worth a viewing.

The Spirit
I had great hopes for this movie. The film is based on the newspaper comic strip
The Spirit by Will Eisner, and is written and directed by Frank Miller. You know the guy that did Sin City. Frank Miller has decided to use the same art direction as he did with Sin City, which makes for good viewing, but I think the story was lacking a bit. I left the cinema entertained, but thinking it could have been better, there was something missing. I haven’t read any of the original comics, so I don’t know if this is something just the movie is missing or something the comic was missing all along. Either way if you enjoyed Sin City then might as well check this out.

Movie - Pineapple Express
Ivy and I went out for some pre-Christmas drinks with Nick and his girl. After a couple we headed back to the flat and watched Pineapple Express the new Seth Rogen movie. We were already a little buzzed from the booze, so in the perfect mindset for this flick.
At first I was weary about how this movie was going to turn out. Similar movies like Superbad were awesome, but when I saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall I felt they were losing their appeal. Pineapple Express didn’t disappoint though and had even Ivy laughing the night away. So if you’re after a good comedy then give this one a go.

Movie - Signs
I have seen this movie quite a few times now. The first time I saw it I really didn’t enjoy it that much, but with every viewing it seems to grow on me a little bit more. Mel’s performance is a little robotic in scenes but Joaquin makes up for it.
I guess I would call myself a fave of Mr. Shyamalan movies, having enjoyed 6th Sense, Unbreakable, The Village and this. I have heard The Happening is complete trash but will probably have to see it at some stage. Anywho, if you are into Sci-Fi flicks or enjoyed Shyamalan’s other movies then give this one a watch.
Who cares about your emotional ruminations…that Indian chick is smokin' hot…
However,to play your game, yes a certain altruistic feeling came over me,a desire
for world egalitarianism even…the juxtaposition of different layers of social experience
was truly fascinating. How did a clog wearing Lancastrian manage all this?Danny Boyle
must have hung out at some interesting curry houses oop norf…
The film transcends its setting, hinting at a universality that taps into the human dynamic
of us all…(excluding me)…
I bet that scene where he jumps into the hole of shit brought back some nice memories of your childhood.
Actually,it reminded me of my first day at the Halswell Superliquorland…
